Our Staff

Managing Director

Ian Wiebenga. Started as an apprentice telecommunications technician in 1984 with Telecom Australia. Working for Telecom (and later Telstra) in telephone installation centres, fault dispatch, PABX installation, PABX support and many other voice and data based roles throughout his 16 years in Telstra. Culminating in support of Department of Defence sites across the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne metropolitan region where his PABX and customer service skills were fine tuned.

In April 2000, Ian moved on from Telstra and became the Voice Network Manager for the Orica group of companies under the Australian Communications Consortium (ACC) where he remained up until September 2007; whereupon Technetium Networks was formed as he went out on his own for the first time.  Here we are 10 years later and the business is still going strong.

The technical services team

Having good staff is imperative to being able to provide good support and good customer service. The staff at Technetium Networks are unparalleled when it comes to these values and the knowledge and expertise they posses is also unparalleled.

Ziggy Dimitrovski. Or “Zig” as he is affectionately known has been in the Telecommunications game for nearing 30 years. He is a Technician’s Technician, if there is something he does not know, he will dig up the manual and find out how it works. Loved by customers all over, they often demand that Zig is the only one to attend as they can trust his knowledge and high level of customer service. Not only working on voice and data networks but also a wizard when it comes to Audio Visual systems, large screen monitors, video conference or any other piece of IT hardware you can throw at throw at him, Zig is the man!

Matthew Wiebenga B.Sc. Matt has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.  Being a computer nerd with the degree to prove it, Matt is always keen to help us when we have larger projects that require his extensive computer software and hardware skills.  Matt is keen to learn and brilliant when it comes to all things computers and modern technology and is central to the future of Technetium Networks as we look to develop mobile apps or delve into computer gaming.

Rob Foster. Officially Robbie to his mum but Rob to the team, he is our trainee and leaves us all behind especially when we work together on projects. Rob’s enthusiasm is contagious and he just loves to learn. Show him once; and he is off finishing the project while the rest of the team are still having their morning cuppa. Rob has completed year 12 and is now studying in the engineering space, so look out!

Vin Grillo. With many years in the telecommunications game this man is a genius. Not only when it comes to his knowledge of cabling, systems and networks, but also has a love for the Richmond football team and brilliantly played golf game that sets him apart the rest of the team, second only to the CEO…

Troy Cameron. This guy eats technical manuals for breakfast. Whether is it Optic fibre, Telephony, Networking or Audio Visual this man is the gun! New technology? This man should be teaching the manufacturers how to build their kit he is that good.  We venture into new products and new vendors only when Troy has given the thumbs up. Which normally happens before the rest of the planet has heard of the latest tech. Without Troy we would still be adjusting rotary dials and installing relay sets.

The office support team

Behind every Nerd Herd there is the team that glue the nerds together so their propellers keep spinning, in our company we have only the best.

Kylie Webster. No business is never complete without the hard working staff in the accounting department, and Kylie is no exception. Her wizardry with Excel Spreadsheets is mind numbing, as is also her ability to make sure the accounts are in order, bills are paid and customer accounts are all up to date. Many small businesses fail around around the 7 year mark, but Kylie makes us all work hard to keep the cash flow positive and keep the bank manager happy so that now we into out terrible teen years we are going stronger than ever.

Ann-Alyce Monte. Our own graphic and design styles perfectionist whose approval is mandatory for all our publicity and marketing exercises. Ann-Alyce is a perfectionist when it comes to advertising and selling our products and services. Without approval from our design and graphics department, nothing is released until it has reached perfection. Nothing gets past this lady, not even for the MD!

Where did our name TECHNETIUM come from?

We all studied chemistry at High school or Tech didn’t we? Although most of us want to… or have tried to…  forget those days, yet we all memorised some of the Periodic Table of Elements and probably still remember some of the first 10 elements or so. One day, many, many, years after High School, while standing in the kitchen reading the periodic table on the door (as I know you all do) and and thinking of business names… BAM! There it was. The name that is perfect for our business. Chemical Element number 43, TECHNETIUM – TC97.

Why is this so perfect?
We are telecommunication TECHnicians!
We work on voice and data NETworks!
And having some customers in the chemical industry this was fitting.
The domain www.technetium.com.au was also available.
Why would you not use such a perfect name?

So there it all started; on September 8, 2007 we registered the company name Technetium Pty Ltd.
Then on September 14, 2007 the business name Technetium Networks was formally registered and Technetium Networks became a reality.
